Peter Heald

(Drax) Peter is a maintenance craftsman at Drax Power station. In 2008 he was diagnosed with Cancer of the Tonsil. After 5 cycles of Chemotherapy, 35 shots of radiotherapy and numerous operations, he is in remission, but can feed only through a tube (percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy). Throughout this period Peter has given all he can to Drax and continues to do so. His sense of humour helps, and he is an inspiration to his colleagues. Peter has for many years been a scout leader, involved in major scouting events in the UK and internally, including several worked scout jamborees. This year he took part in his first international scout camp since his illness started. Since 1990 he has worked with over 1000 young people, introducing 400 to international scouting. He is responsible for Selby District 14 -18 year olds, and from 2002 he has been District Explorer Scout Commissioner.
