Pete's nomination story

Pete worked as a youth worker, for over 25 years in the same youth club, inspiring and encouraging the young people of a small Dorset town. Pete dedicated his time and energy to providing the young people of Sherborne with activities and a space to keep them focused and out of trouble. He guided generations of young people to more positive futures. Many young people who attended the youth club have gone on to become youth workers themselves at sometime in their careers, passing the baton of inspiration created by Pete from generation to generation. He has an unfaltering belief in the good in people, and this could be seen in the work he did and encouraged. Nothing was ever too much for Pete to consider, for staff or the young people alike, if the idea was there, then Pete found a way to make it work, It would be fair to say that Pete created a unqiue and special place at Sherborne Youth Club, that has touched the lives of thousands of young people. His drive and determination has made a difference to so many lives and we would like him to be repaid with something special. Pete has retired now, and still fills his time with Church groups and gardening in the community. His desire to help and change the community around us is innate and a very special trait, in a very special man.
