Peter's nomination story

I am writing to you today to nominate my brother Peter. Peter is a double amputee, whereby he lost his both legs from below the knee, as a result of a tragic industrial accident at the tender age of 18. He pulled through this horendous time in his life with the help of his very close friends and family. Part of his rehabilitation process was to be sent to a college in Leatherhead, Surrey to undertake training to become a draftsman. Peter then took an interest in attending volley ball sessions due to his hard work and dedication, not to mention his exceptional drive and perseverance in ensuring that his handicap would not get in the way of what he wanted to achieve in life. Following his marriage, which resulted in the birth of a beautful daughter Peter went on to becoming a competitor in three Paralymic Games for the volleyball team for Great Britain. He competed in the New York Games in 1984 / the Soul Games 1988 and the Barcelona Games 1992. Of course, this is just a snapshot of what Peter has achieved to date and will go on achieving his goals in life, however, I am sure that to carry the torch in the 2012 games would be a great honour and privilage for him. Not to mention the inspiration that it would give to many amputee's young and old
