Peter Avey

I feel Peter my father in law has made a real difference to Brighton especially the seafront. He is well known around Brighton seafront and still works down there in his Fish and Chip shop. He is 74 years old and has lived all his life in Brighton. He was born in Brighton in 1937 he first started helping the community after he finished National Service for two years in Malta he started by helped out at the Brighton Boys club which helped all the young boys in the community with helping them with sports like football and cricket. This was something Peter enjoyed and really then put his mind to helping out others in the community. He started life on the sea front in 1963 working as a life guard. He worked for them for 19 years and rescued hundreds if not thousands of people from the sea and beach. He also worked voluntary for the life boats for a total of 8 years in which time he helped out lots of people from the sea. He also got a recommendation from Brighton Council for the work he did with the life boats. Peter is a true Brightonian and loves Brighton with all his heart. He really strives to help the seafront officers out when there is a problem with a missing child or trouble down the seafront. He is very well known down there and people im sure from the seafront office would want him to be a Torchbearer as well. I think he would made a great Torchbearer and please consider him when you are looking for people in Brighton. Thank you.
