Pauline is a local volunteer who established a martial arts club, Kaizen Shotobudo, over 20 years ago that is open to children and adults throughout the North of Glasgow. Inclusivity is at the heart of the club ethos and throughout the years it has nurtured people facing many different challenges - physical, emotional and personal. The club has now grown and in addition to Pauline's two clubs in Bishopbriggs and Springburn, many of her students (who begun as children) now run their own clubs as volunteers. Two years ago Pauline was diagnosed with breast cancer and, thankfully, was successfully treated. But throughout her fight she remained dedicated to ensuring the club continued to run and her students continued to develop. For many, Pauline became an even greater role model in the way that she dealt with her personal battle. Pauline is more than just a coach to those who know her, she is a friend; a parent; a teacher; a drill sergeant; a cheerleader; agony aunt and -above all- an inspiration. Without a doubt, Pauline deserves this Moment to Shine!
