Paul's nomination story

Paul is my inspirational nomination.Paul has Down's Syndrome and was a powerlifter with Yorkshire and Great Britain Special Needs Powerlifting Teams.He competed in Special Olympics for 10 years winning world,european,UK and scottish titles(retired from competition in 2008)He won 6 British National learning disability Championships and 7 Scottish Special Olympic Open Championships.He went to Special Olympic G.B.National Games(held every 4 years)in 2001 in Cardiff(4 silvers)and in 2005 Glasgow(4 gold). He lifted for Great Britain in a Special Olympic event in Ireland 2002(gold and silver).He lifted for Great Britain in the Special Olympic World Games 2003 Ireland(gold,2 silver,bronze).He lifted for England in Special Olympics European/Eurasia 2004 Scotland(4 silver).Yorkshire Newspaper Group inaugurated yearly sports awards in 2001 with Paul chosen 'Male Disabled Performance of the Year' for 5 years between 2001-2008.With exeptional dedication to his sport and always striving to be the best he can be,Paul truly has the 'Olympic Spirit'.He would be very proud to be a torch bearer for London 2012.
