Paul's nomination story

Paul volunteers as a Young Leader with Lisburn Cathedral Scout Group Cub pack, helping Adult Leaders with the weekly running of meetings, He also attends two or three camps a year as a Young Leader as part of the Leadership team. For the last four years Paul has helped with the annual River Lagan Clean up, where a number of volunteers have come together to clean up the river bank between Lisburn and Belfast. Paul, a keen kayaker, ferried rubbish, accessible only from the river, to bigger canoes and central collection points. Paul also assists at his Fencing club, helping the coaches with some of the younger fencers. Finally between the ages of 10 and 13 he was effectively a part time home carer when his mother was diagnosed and treated for Leukaemia. He helped care for her and regularly supervised his younger brother doing homework as well as making family meals.
