Paul's nomination story

Paul Green is and has been an outstanding Youth Worker for over 35years.His positive attitude towards young people allows him to always see their achievements and will encourage them to turn their negative attitudes around and make them feel good about themselves. His work with young bands in Brentwood, the drama group and all aspects of one to one and group facework is unique. He is an unbelievable youth worker. His positive attitude has enabled him to cope with a diagnosis of leukemia in 2009. He underwent a bone marrow transplant and is currently in remission. He recently spent five weeks in hospital with major side effects only to return back to work within six weeks. His consultant described him as 'remarkable'. He considers he is not ill but has a condition. His current fund raising projects are The Anthony Nolan Trust and The Sophie Lancaster Trust, both of which have benefitted from his efforts. He is a great family man who delights in his children and grandchildren encouraging and supporting them in all aspects of family life. His wide range of knowledge has been largely self taught but is based on a love of life and a quest for learning new things. His sense of humour and spontaneous wit is second to none. I know I am biased as I have spent the last forty four years with a remarkable human being and we have had a great time. If anyone deserves 'a moment to shine' I think it is Paul Green
