paul was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis about thirty years ago following a car accident , when impaired vision and numbing pains in pauls limbs persisted well after the accident. it has only been the last few years that paul has been confined to a wheelchair.he also has difficulty in speaking, clearing his throat and eating but he uses a litewriter which voices the letters and words he types out .this hasnt stopped paul working at raising thousands of pounds for charity and challenging himself at the same time.his latest achievement was to be roped up and climb a wall not once but twice .three weeks before he was in hospital with a serious chest infection.he continues to try and be as active as possible and set up his own exercise classes to help other disabled people. i never hear him complain he is always thinking of others before himself i am welcomed every day with his wonderful smile i feel proud to know him and he would feel so proud to carry the torch representing his island please make it happen for him.
