Paul devotes larges amounts of his time as governor at two schools. Charing Primary school being of special interest, as he became chair just as the school became a failing school resulting in the departure of the Head Teacher. He has devoted many hours ensuring the right Head was appointed and assisted KCC professionals to ensure teaching standards were raised to ensure every child at the school reached their maximum potential, and after much work, has helped to turn the school around. Paul has trained as a trampoline judge and on a voluntary basis is nominated for a local club Skybound enabling children to compete both regionally and nationally. He, along with his daughter, also promoted this sport at a secondary school travelling around the country and was rewarded when the team were crowned national champions in 2010.Paul would make an excellent London 2012 torchbearer.
