Paul's nomination story

Paul is a voluntary motorcyclist for Severn Freewheelers, a registered charity delivering NHS supplies (notes, x-rays and blood) between hospitals from Swindon, Marlborough, John Radcliff, and Newbury, and medicine to private addresses. The bikes have high-visibility markings, blue lights and sirens for emergency use. They save lives by delivering urgently required items safely and promptly. Paul passed a special advanced driving test which he financed himself. Paul has done this critical work since 2008, on a purely voluntary basis. The call out period is from 7pm until 7am. As Paul works the weekend shift at Plant Swindon, he usually does a 3 night stint for the Freewheelers, starting on a Monday night and finishing on a Wednesday night. In addition he has carried out a 600 mile charity cycle ride across the Andes in Peru for the National Asthma Campaign, raising £2,000. It would be wonderful to reward this fantastic community work with the chance to become a torchbearer.
