Ann's nomination story

Ann Daniel in her personal and professional life has made a real difference to her local community, to her family and her friends. She was one of the first to set up a local charity (Dorset Action on Abuse, now Big Lottery Funded). This charity offers help to adults who were abused as children and are still suffering some appalling effects. She unstintingly has given of her time and energy in an entirely voluntary capacity to help those who have been very marginalized through no fault of their own. She helps the clients both directly by being a voluntary unpaid counsellor, is also a Trustee and also on a day to day level helps keep the place going. Her commitment is extraordinary. However her contribution does not stop there - she has fund raised to help children with hearing loss - she has a personal interest in this- and has supported again unstintingly her own family through the crisis of an ill child. Form my own perspective her friendship has been unwavering during a period of 18 months when I was very ill. Her support on so many levels is hard to describe. She helped practically, emotionally and was always available. Overall, the picture I paint here combined with her love of sport and her absolute passion over the coming Olympics would make her an outstanding candidate for this very special role. She would regard it as a absolute honour and would be surprised. She is consistently modest and would never dream of honour in any form. She is a remarkable person .
