Nominated by Team GB Chef de Mission Andy Hunt to acknowledge the important role parents play in supporting their Olympic athlete son or daughter. Jim Redmond became famous at the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games when he instinctively entered the track to help his son, Derek, who had torn a hamstring injury in the 400m semi-finals and lay stricken on the track, to help him finish the race and in doing so, create a historic Olympic moment.
