My husband Mo should be a torch bearer, an ex Olympian himself ( Mo was selected for the British Judo team in Montreal in 1976. These days Mo runs a community Soccer Academy in East London and coaches over 160 children a week between the ages of 7-18. He has worked tirelessly over the last 15 years creating a network of football coaches, turning around the lives of young people, many of whom would have few chances in life if not for his intervention. Mo has a passion for developing the potential of young people - he is well known across East London and was recognised as the Mayor's Ambassador for Sport in 2005 and received an award from Ken Livingstone at City Hall. He is truly inspirational. Mo uses his experiences of being one of the best in his sport to inspire young people to do their best. Being a torch bearer would be a fitting tribute to an ex Olympian who has dedicated the last 15 years to grassroots sport and truning the lives around of hundreds of children and young people in East London.
