What do Nikhil Parikh and Michael Phelps have in common? Nothing? other than being "sponsored" by Visa! In September, I completed my first triathlon and would have never crossed the finish line without the support of my colleagues. I was impressed by how my co-workers took a genuine interest in my training. Interestingly, many are athletes themselves and provided a wealth of tips and coaching (from optimal biking cadence to race-day hydration tips). In fact, one colleague joined me in the pool to help perfect my swimming technique; turns out she swam in the 1988 Olympics! Most importantly, I raised money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Through donations from co-workers and the company's generous gift matching program, I raised over $6,000. The support I received from my colleagues exemplifies the spirit of the Olympics, and what it means to be a part of a team.
