Nigel's nomination story

Approx 12 years ago Nigel broke his neck in a horrendous freak accident whilst on holiday. It was touch and go as to whether he would ever walk again. But not only has Nigel recovered but has gone on to complete many marathon/charity runs and has raised thousands of pounds for needy causes including spinal injury charities and also reasearch into MND.

The MND charity (Oxford Learning) was in aid of a colleagues father who had suffered from this horrendous disease and has now sadly passed away. The most recent fundraising venture was

in aid of one of our colleagues whose little boy needed urgent surgery in the States. Nigel stepped up to the mark without hesitation, got stuck in finding sponsors, a huge task in its self and then off he went on another huge run! His training was hampered by a degree of pain, caused by a recent triple hernia operation, that he thought may make him withdraw, but he is not one to throw the towel in, so the run was completed and funds were raised!

Nigel is very unassuming, never one to make a song and dance of just how very nearly his life could have been over. He is a really nice guy who does some really lovely things for other people - quite against the odds. It would be very special if all his low-key efforts were awarded such a once in a lifetime opportunity. He is an amazing ambassador for BA and I know everyone would be thrilled to see Nigel carry that torch)
