Nigel's nomination story

I am nominating Nigel Roberts for the work he does in the local community, where over the years he has raised a lot of money for charity, organizing various events. Nigel has completed various long distance walks for different charities, he has walked the Inca Trial for 'Scope', and completed the 'High Peak Challenge' on Mount Everest for a local charity 'The Pathway Workshop'. Nigel continues support for this local charity which supports the disabled and adults who cannot work in a mainstream environment. He organises a golf day every year called 'Pathway to Everest', which is now in its 5th year. He also organises a golf day every July in memory of his friend's son who died tragically in a car accident. 50% of funds raised for this go in a trust fund for his children, with the remainder going to very local groups. Alongside his 2 calendar golf days a year, he sometimes does extra ones like the last 2 years when he raised money for 'Sobell House' and 'Help for Heroes', respectively. As well as this, he is Chairman of the Rover Sports and Social Club, where he has been heavily involved for the last 15 years. I know that Nigel uses his leverage to make things easier for groups to use the club at a very low rate or free. I know he gets involved in a lot of inside work as well as other external activities; he has been a School Governor in the past and still supports the school in other ways. He thoroughly deserves this recognition.
