Nicola Gemmell

Nicola was diagnosed as having Polysistic Kidneys and after having both removed, she has dialysis three times a week. She has been through so much and was recently told her chances of receiving a transplant is extremely slim. Although this was a huge shock for the family, she has always been a happy, cheery person who never gets down or sad and is always making everyone who meets her laugh. The dialysis is exhausting for her, but she still works full time and loves to look after her 2 year old niece every weekend which is a wee pick-me-up for her. Nicola is my mother and has always been there for me and my brother. She is a strong, motivating person and has been through so much, still supporting her family and friends. She deserves to carry the olympic flame.
