Nick Giles

Nick`s a true inspiration, particularly to sport. He is passionate to help others believe in their true potential to achieve what they thought impossible (Nick would not of dreamt his achievements were possible). Nick started to play hockey for his club Formby at a very young age. He was selected to play for all Lanc's age groups including seniors. From Lanc's he played NW U13/U15/U17, he went on to play for England U16 a year ahead of his scheduled age, playing 2 years for the side, captaining the side in his second year. He was then selected again a year early for a further 2 years with England with U18`s helping them win the 4 nations in Seville for the first time in 8 yrs, he has recently been selected for England U21 training squad. He has achieved this along with juggling exams and two part time jobs to help fund his training. He coaches youngsters hockey and is a fantastic role model showing that you don`t have to have a private education to be successful in sport, all you need is belief in yourself and passion in what you do. Won sports personality of the year from 3 different clubs. I know Nick would be honoured to be a torchbearer in Liverpool and is working hard to be a participating athlete for 2016. Despite all this Nick is not big headed and just truly a very likeable youth, If you want someone who is a credit to sporting achievements through hard work then Nick's the one or you.
