Nicholas Cushen

Nicholas is a member of the Barry Beavers Swimming Club for the disabled, which is based at Barry leisure Centre in the Vale of Glamorgan. Nicholas has been with the club for over 6 years now, starting a swimmer, then moving on to being a helper, whose role is to assist and care for disabled swimmers of all ages during their swimming sessions. He now instructs other helpers to gain skills and confidence when they join the club. He also teaches skills required to gain AST Hallwick proficiency badges. He is a valued member of the club and liked by everyone. He is also involved in other volunteering activities including canoeing and assisting with nursery children at the YMCA. Nicholas would be a great choice as a flame bearer because he represents fully the spirit of volunteering and helping in every way he can.
