John Battersby

My Dad is amazing, he is so enthusiastic and energetic and is so busy in the local community - its like a full time job (but he's retired!). He works hard for a variety of fund raising activities including a local sponsored duck race, guess the weight of the pumpkin, supermarket dashes and more, all for local causes. His energy and drive has also encouraged others to follow in his footsteps too, reinforcing the sense of community in our town. He is E Midlands organiser for a national football tournament, will always nominate himself as a volunteer to help others and is happy to be out in the town picking litter and planting bulbs to make our community a more attractive place. My Dad seems to have dedicated his life to making the lives of others enriched, secure and happy. I am so proud of him and I can think of no other person more deserving of carrying the Olympic flame in our region.
