Neil's nomination story

Ever since my Granddad had a fatal heart attack when I was 10 years old I have been inspired to try and raise awareness about heart disease, raise money and encourage people to live healthier lives. As well as taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh walk for Charity while I was at school - which raised a combined £500 - I have also competed in a golf tournament on behalf of the British Heart Foundation. I raised £200 which went towards the Research into Family History of Heart Disease. I walk 2 miles each day and play golf regularly and encourage others to join me so that we can all keep our hearts healthy. I am also passionate about cooking and love to make well-balanced meals for my friends and family to help them get their 5-a-day.

The Olympics has true history and being a torch bearer would make me part of that history and allow me to spread my message further - I hope to inspire my son and future generations to come.
