Neil's nomination story

In October 2010 Neil's world was turned upside down when he was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (CML). CML is an extremely rare type of blood cancer and had it gone hidden, Neil could have been dead in three years. In the short time Neil has been living with this disease his thoughts turned to raising money for a charity which is trying to find a cure. Neil chose Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research who offer patients like him hope for the future, hope for a cure and support in the meantime. Neil is a fighter and selfless and wants to raise money for the charity to help as many people as possible. Neil has raised nearly £10k since his diagnosis. Neil organised a charity race night which rose over £3k, completed the C2C Cycle Challenge (£2k) and will take part in the Great North Run. Neil's strength and determination is unbelievable. He would be honored to carry the Olympic Torch.
