Naz's nomination story

Nazma is the embodiment of what we are striving for in the UK today, she comes from a duel heritage background she joins the East and West in terms of culture and experience and she cares passionately about the community she lives in. Nazma has been giving back to her community for years; she supports adults in the community with a learning disability to be a valued part of society and runs a 'Rainbows' group for young girls. Nazma has a strong sense of community spirit and a steely determination to help create a society that accepts all and sees difference as strength. Nazma is selfless in her approach to giving her time to others helping out neighbours old and young, her family, her friends, she is a true inspiration to the people around her, as her colleague and friend she is a true rock, someone you can always rely on, and has selflessly given her time for years now without a real opportunity for anyone to say thank you back, (which by the way she never looks for). So, now, at this time, to have the opportunity to hold that torch a loft and help unite a country behind a common goal, would be a truly fitting and appropriate way for us the people that she helps and support on a daily basis to say thank you, thank you for what you do and thank you for who you are, and most importantly thank you for being a believer, a believer in the innate kindness of humanity and the desire to see us unite as a nation, not just for the summer of 2012 but for the future.
