Niti's nomination story

My mum has recently beaten an aggressive breast cancer. During that time she couldn't work as a GP so she devoted all her energy running a community interest company which strives to improve the health of her very deprived community in Smethwick by using a variety of local strategies. This has made a real difference to the people of Smethwick and shows them that even in a time of hardship there are people willing to go the extra mile to secure a healthy future for local people. Also during her illness she raised money through an event called the Bollywood Ball for Diabetes UK and the Junior Diabetic Research Fund. Diabetes is a problem that effects all communities across our nation and striving to understand the condition and produce therapies for it benefits not just our society but the global community as well My mum did all of this fighting cancer and I couldn't be more proud.
