Natasha's nomination story

Natasha has overcome great difficulties in her life, losing her brother when he was 18 and she was 21, In 2005 when Natasha was 27, just 2 weeks after giving birth to our child, she was diagnosed with leukemia, she stayed in hospital for 6months and me and the baby moved into the hospital with her. Natasha wanted something positive to come from the experince and started the charity leaf. Leaf now in its 5 year has raised nearly £100k to fund help for other young families affected by leukemia, paying for short breaks and holidays, help at home, funding nurses study courses, £1000,s of donations towards blood cancer hospital wards and large donations to leukemia research. Natasha works full time running the charity on a purely voluntary basis so that every penny raised goes towards helping others aswell as being a fantastic mum to our three young boys She is an insperation to me and all the people she has helped and I know that all the people Natasha has helped regard her as a close friend. Even when the hospitals and doctors gave up hope for one patient Natasha would not and did not give up her quest to find a cure and searched every avenue for new hope which she eventualy found, This lady has now been taken on for a new trial and the future looks bright and this lady says she owes Natasha her life. Natasha would be a worthy Torch bearer and would do the nation Proud.
