Nahimul Islam

Nahimul is the current Young Mayor for Tower Hamlets, elected to represent the voices of young people in the borough. In this role Nahimul has led a knife crime awareness campaign and this year will be focusing on 3 priorities - community cohesion, NEET reduction and discrimination. Prior to this Nahimul was a member of the Youth Opportunity Fund and awarded grants to the tune of £500,000 to youth-led projects and helped fundraise to improve his local youth centre. He sits on the Tower Hamlets Homes Youth Panel and is a member of Tower Hamlets Youth Council. Nahimul is passionate, and committed to improving the opportunities offered to young people. A young man who really cares about the community he lives in, Nahimul believes that success for all can only be achieved if we work together. Nahimul embodies the spirit of our borough, One Tower Hamlets, and that of the Olympics.
