Morgan's nomination story

Morgan Jones has been actively involved with St Christopher`s Hospice for over ten years, both as a trustee and as a fundraiser.. . Founded by Dame Cicely Saunders in 1967 St Christopher's Hospice was the first modern hospice, now providing the highest quality care to over 2,000 dying individuals each year on our inpatient wards and in people's own homes. . . Dame Cicely's vision and work transformed the care of the dying and the practice of medicine. The ongoing impact of St Christopher's clinical innovations and our extensive programmes of education and research improve care for dying people well beyond our geographical location and influence standards of healthcare throughout the world. . . Morgan successfully led the St Christopher's 40th Anniversary Campaign in 2007 as Campaign Chairman. In just over one year the Campaign reached the £2.5m target. Morgan enthusiastically and successfully persuaded a significant number of people to become major donors and made a very generous personal gift. The anniversary campaign resulted in a major refurbishment of facilities for patients and families at the hospice, including a bright, attractive social space with a café and information area, new outpatient clinics, an assisted bathing suite and a rehabilitation gym. In addition Morgan continues to work actively promoting the hospice amongst his colleagues and opening doors so that St Christopher's can make an effective approach to trusts and foundations..
