Sahar Zahid

Ever since university Sahar has been working tirelessly in the field of education and empowering the youth, primarily through her extensive voluntary involvement in a charity known as the Nida Trust. Two of her many achievments in this area worth highlighting are the establishment of Y-Lead, a six week professional development programme for 14-19 year olds which focuses on developing, empowering and equipping them to run professional and structured projects in their respected communities. Each year this has impacted 60 individuals directly and the size of the programme grows from year to year. The second is the establishment of the You Teach programme. The programme creates an awareness of the teaching profession amongst ethnic minority graduates, encourages ethnic minority graduates to pursue a career in teaching and facilitates and supports graduates to enter the teaching profession.
