Michael's nomination story

I have known Mike for 10 years, as he has been a 'friend' of the Museum where I work for this time. This is a voluntary organisation that helps with all aspects of the museum where he has shown himself to be a very dedicated and concientious individual, always ready to help and very reliable. However, in his life before i knew him, since 1966, and up to the present day, he has been a volunteer in World and National athletics. He has given up his spare time every single year to help with all aspects of athletics that are far too many to mention, so will name just a few as an example, IPC WORLD DISABLED CHAMPIONSHIPS 1998 BIRMINGHAM, STOKE MANDEVILLE ISMWGF INTERNATIONAL GAMES 1986-95, COMMONWEALTH GAMES MANCHESTER 2002, EUROPEAN VETERANS CHAMPIONSHIPS 1984 BRIGHTON, WILTSHIRE SCHOOLS AA 1970-2004, SWINDON AC, NATION DWARF CHAMPIONSHIPS 2000-2011, BRITISH BLIND SPORT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 1992-1997 etc. He has been a judge, markman starter, organiser, among his posts, and ALL voluntary. The list is endless, and yet, nobody at the Museum knows because he doesnt 'boast' about what he does. I only know because i am good friends with his wife. He is very inspirational and has helped so many people, children and adults, abled and disabled, and deserves more than anyone i know to be an Olympic Torch Bearer.
