Mike Park is Team Leader of Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team, a charitable and voluntary organisation based in Cumbria. Over the last few years Mike has led our 40 team members through some of our most challenging rescues including the Cockermouth floods in 2009, the West Cumbria shootings 2010, and the Keswick school coach crash in 2010. 2010 was also a record year for mountain rescues with 80 to deal with, many of them involving fatalities or serious injuries. Mike has been a team member for over 28 years making an outstanding contribution to the local community and to the wider community of walkers, climbers, mountain bikers, parapenters etc. He is also a keen climber and fell runner; his achievements include completing the famous Bob Graham round of 42 Lake District peaks in 24 hours, starting and finishing in Keswick.
