Mike's nomination story

As a child Michael showed little athletic ability. At 13 he told me (Dad) he wanted to take up running and came with me to our local running club in Cardigan.Through shear hard work and training and through the guidance of all the local running clubs Mike gradually improved his running racing in many local events. So impressed by his improvement his peers and friends took up running and at times up to15 youngsters would be seen together running the coastal paths of Cardigan Bay. Mike continued to train hard and at 14 ran for the school in cross country and at 15 ran for the county. At 16 Mike concentrated on mountain running and gained his first Welsh vest running in Italy then the same year ran in World Mountain Running Championships in Switzerland. As time has gone on Mike has continued with his love of running and has achieved some 14 more Welsh vests in road running ,cross country and track. In 2010 he ran for Team GB in both the European and World Mountain Running Championships gaining a European Team Bronze . Michael has been an inspiration to all showing what can be achieved with hard work determination and training and encouraged many youngsters and adults to take up running for fun and fitness. Michael's continuing running achievements are watched by many people local and affar. As a boy raised in Cardigan all are proud of his success and though 2012 is not his time you never know what is around the corner for this young man who is all heart , and courage.
