Mike's nomination story

Mike Fisher is Chairman of the Pulborough 'Minis' Rugby Club with 280 members between the ages of 6 to 12. This provides a fun opportunity for children in the local area to get involved with Rugby which builds up both the children's sporting and social skills. As Chairman Mike dedicates 10 - 15 hours per week and his duties include organising and arranging the regular weekly training sessions and Sunday matches.

He organises training camps in the school holidays in the UK and abroad, special training days where professional rugby players come and coach the children and trips to Twickenham. Alongside this he is also responsible for successfully managing all the finances and ensuring that membership costs are kept to a minimum to enable as many children as possible to take part. Mike also undertakes all the administrative duties to ensure the smooth day to day running of the club is maintained. He also in the process of setting up a Girls Rugby team too.

Mike is driven to dedicate so much of time to the rugby club because he is passionate about children being involved with sport. He believes all children should have the opportunity to take part in sport, promoting a healthy life style as well as contributing to their social development. Mike believes that the discipline and character attributes gained from sport are not only important to the children at their current age but for their future as well.
