Michael Finnegan is a former foster care resident who is 21 years of age and has for the last 3 months been involved in the 16+ Pathways programme designed to ensure young people who have been in foster care are provided additional support and workplacement and study opportunities to complete their education and develop the life skills neccessary to go on to be good citizens. Michael is currently on an administrative placement within the Capital Development Directorate of the Western Health & Social Care Trust and has proved an exceptionally capable and dedicated member of staff, always curteous in his support to colleagues and assisting where ever possible. This young man has, in spite of a very difficult start in life overcome many challenges and has proved himself to be a worthy colleague and citizen of this community. His nomination is made reflecting the new start that this young man has made in his life and in many ways also symbolises the new start Derry/Londonderry has made over the past number of years as it looks to the future.
