Mick's nomination story

My Mum battled breast cancer for 5 years and was very grateful for the fantastic NHS treatment she recieved so wanted to say thankyou. Mick stepped up to the mark and organised a run from Leeds (we live in West Yorkshire) to the Wirral along the Leeds to Liverpool Canal. As a recreational runner he trained very hard for the 127 mile run and organsied extensive fund raising across the country. With sheer determination he rallied my family during a very difficut time as sadly Mum passed away 1 week before it took place, I was 9 months pregnant with her second grand child whom sadly she did not get to meet. The run was a success and my brave, selfless husband raised £10,000 for the Clatterbridge Centre of Oncology on the Wirral improving the service offered to Cancer patients across the North West. I am nominating him as he has never sought personal praise and deserves to be recognised.
