Melanie Stephenson

As a young Welsh runner having Type 1 Diabetes. Her story shows others hope and inspires so many that sports is achievable no matter what!continue to suprise people in what you can achieve both in sport and life regardless of having a chronic illness. It hasn't stopped me if anything the challenges of being an Welsh athlete with diabetes have spurred me on to become stronger. I want to use this passion for sport and helping others to support other people towards achieving their own dreams and goals in the future. I never dreamed when I started volunteering for charity a few years ago that my own story would inspire others to achieve as well but it has. And I want to carry on this work on a bigger scale to reach help and support more people in the future. Being a Olympics 2012 torch bearer would allow me to achieve these goals and would mean absolutely everything to me!
