Megan's nomination story

Megan is a coeliac, diabetic with Ehlers Danlos syndrome, who, in spite of her difficulties comes to school with a smile on her face and a determination to help others through the day. She has to monitor her blood sugar levels 2-3 times a day and has an excellent awareness of diabetes which she is happy to share with others. She is currently making a book to help a younger student, in her transition to secondary school, to manage her diabetes and to know what she will be able to eat from the school canteen when she comes here in September. Megan eagerly participates in 'alternative' P.E. sessions with Special Needs children from other schools, helping those who struggle and always making new friends. She has recently completed a sponsored swim for Diabetes UK, swimming 42 lengths and raising over £200. Megan is a child with many difficulties but her bravery and determination has enabled her to overcome such extreme adversity and show tremendous strength of character that has helped her to achieve her goals and be an inspiration to others. Her courageous nature has made such a positive impact on those around her that this nomination would be a fitting tribute to Megan and the recognition she deserves.
