Megan is an incredible young person who has volunteered her time to work with young people and adults across the South Lakes area of Cumbria. She has volunteered as a young leader to support youth clubs and has organised trips and activities for young people. She has been integral in writing funding bids to do up Kendal Lads and Girls club where she secured £80,000 to do the centre up for the benefit of young people in Kendal and the surrounding area. She also has a voice for young people and lead workshops for youth Participation which eventually led to 2 trips to the European Parliament in Brussels. She was able to speak up in the large conference rooms with other delegates who did not speak English and put the case forward for young people. She has received several Awards for courses that she has attended and taken part in with the latest being the Duke of Edinburgh Award. She also heavily involved with the Fire Fighting service where again she volunteers her time and supports many of the initiatives that they are involved in. She is currently involved in the Junior Citizenship scheme where all Primary schools in the South Lakes area receive training on staying safe etc. Megan is the perfect candidate as a Torch bearer as sshe is always willing to give up her time freely despite having a part time job and attending college. She is happy to lead but is also a great team player. She has been through a lot over the years but has come out shining and always has a smile.
