Megan's nomination story

Megan Bothwell, aged 18, is a registered volunteer with Crossfire Trust, a registered charity, which is dedicated to homelessness and addiction problems. Megan has been responsilbe for organising volunteer work days and has been instrumental in getting her school friends to join in and enjoy volunteering. On 31 July 2011 Megan will be travelling to an orphanage in Romania to volunteer.

Megan attended the Integrated College, Dungannon where she was Head Girl. During this Megan achieved the cup for the Sports Woman of the Year 2010 and Junior, Intermediate,Senior Netball Player of the Year in 2009, 2010 and 2011. She has also run in the Ulster Cross Country Championships and the All Ireland Finals. It is usual that someone so young has achieved so much and yet maintains the momemtum and resilience to volunteer with a registered charity as well as coach netball at St Jarlath's School and coach soccer on Saurday mornings for 7 -11 year olds. Megan has sporting awards namely Netball Level One, Grassroots in Soccer, Foundation level in Gaelic and OCN Level Three in leadership. Megan is also Captain of Armagh Ladies Football Team.

Megan acts as coach for a cross community football event having assisted with a funding application to her local Education and Library Board Youth Programme.

I don't know of anyone else with such an array of talent and enthusiam for helping people to achieve. Her enthusiam at such a young age is unique and maks Megan an ideal candidate.
