Meabh was born prematurely and developed necrotising enterocolitis resulting in her needing a resection of the bowel. She suffered Infantile spasms 'WEST Syndrome and the early expectations for life for her parents was one of not being able to walk or talk with poor vision. Meabh has a permanent Ileostomy and she has moderate learning difficulties. Despite all this Meabh has attended mainstream primary school at Oakgrove integrated Primary School in Derry~Londonderry where the torch will visit. This school and her parents have persisted and brought Meabh successfully through many tough formative years. The journey has been rewarding for Meabh, her teachers and fellow classmates who have been witness to such a kind loving child among them. Meabh was my daughters friend throughout school and they will each take on a seperate new phase of lifes journey with Meabh transferring in Septmeber 2011 to Troy College. Meabh has a love of animals and is a very competent horse rider with her mum and brother and she cares for her horse 'Flo' 4-5 per week. She also cares for her dog 'Toots' Sports has been a passion and this is my reason for nominating Meabh as she is an inspiration to us all. This is the very person I would want to see Meabh Fisher a brave and humble child bearing the torch which symbolises efforts of one person supported by many that can attain greatness and act to infect and inspire others to take up such a journey and run that extra mile to succeed.
