I would like to nominate my son, Max, to be a torch bearer. Three years ago when Max was only 10, my mother and his grandmother was diagnoised with terminal cancer. Although Max was very close to his grandmother he put his own grief to one side and as much as he physically could took over the running of my house so that I could nurse my mother at home until she sadly passed on. He cooked light meals, took calls from relatives and helped care for a dying woman to whom he thought the world of. I can only admire him for all he was able to do without once being asked. When Max was younger he had a kidney removed, he has not allowed this to bother him and will always refer to his cup being half full. I realy do feel that this quiet, very shy, hard working child who is a St Johns ambulance cadet really does deserve his moment to sit up and be counted as he truly is my hero
