Lloyds TSB, proud Presenting Partner of the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay, has selected pupils from Failsworth School to be Olympic Torchbearers as part of National School Sport Week. . . Failsworth School have used the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games to utilise the Olympic and Paralympic values, inspiring our students to achieve their personal best across the curriculum and becoming the very best that they can be. We are innovative in utilising sport across all subjects and faculties using its power to increase achievement and attainment through topical and cross curricular work.  National School Sport Week has been particularly inspirational with all lessons starting with videos based on a range of traditional and alternative sports and lessons having a sport theme.  We consult with our students regularly about activities they would like to take part in and we have introduced new activities including Mountain Biking, Dodgeball, Tchoukball, Hooping, Skipping, Girls Rugby, and Handball.  This has enabled more students to access activities making them healthier and more physically active.  Many of our students are active leaders and volunteer with activities at school and in the community with 23 young people being involved as School Games Volunteers at the Greater Manchester School Games in July and helping others to achieve their personal best.
