Matt Shields

Matt has been has been involved in coaching Athletics for over 30 years. Still competing, Matt has achieved personally, as a coach, as an individual and in the team, club and community settings. He has coached and mentored athletes to spectacular results but Matt firmly believes that his personal reward comes from seeing each individual who seeks his coaching advice grow and reach their potential whatever that may be. He has worked with Belfast City Council in establishing an Indoor Athletics group for all ages and abilities that feed into his own club and others across the City. Recently, he has been instrumental in establishing the successful Park Run at the Waterworks in North Belfast and Victoria Park in the East training up and mentoring the volunteers. In every sense he has gone the extra MILE!! Matt is undoubtedly one of Belfast's most dedicated and finest coaches working with large groups of athletes across both Club & Community.
