Matt Blandford is an inspiration to all young people. Until the age of 11 he had difficulty getting involved in sport because he was too big. Age 12 he had size 12 feet and was over 6ft tall. Introduced to rugby and Javelin by his dad, Matt has gone on to achieve the following: 1. Triple Kent champion (Javelin, shot and Discus) on several occasions 2. UK Champion for discus U15 without a coach. 3rd all time for Javelin U15, 7th in UK for Shot U15. 3. Set numerous records en route 4. Was signed for London Wasps academy and England Development squad for rugby. As a result was offered several sports scholarships and accepted one at Tonbridge school. 5. Captained A team to unbeaten season for Tonbridge, won Kent cup with Sevenoaks club who have potential to be national champions. 5. Recently had England trials for rugby. Matt inspires others to have a go, by his determination to be the best he can. Matt is known for delivering results, working hard, a refusal to be beaten but he is often described as a 'nice bloke'. He has re-written the record books at school and athletics club, buit will often be found helping others better their technique, even in competition. Matt's size makes him the person that people turn to for leadership, and he never lets people or himself down in this regard. He would be an inspirational torch bearer.
