Tilly Swanson

Along with her brother Hamish, Matilda demonstrated an inspiring story of friendship and excellence by undertaking a 92 mile sponsored walk along Hardian's wall in the summer of 2011. Matilda and Hamish supported each other over the six day trail helping and motivating themselves through torrential rain, painful blisters, aching limbs and a never-ending progression of Pennine crags to reach the final goal at Wallsend. The motivation behind the sponsored walk was her younger brother Hamish, who as a colitis sufferer, wanted to thank the charity Chron's and Colitis UK for help with advice and other support over the past years. Matilda and her brother worked hard to promote their walk and generate sponsorship through giving talks at their local church and publicising the event at school. They managed to raise a fantastic total of £2500 by undertaking this challenge. As part of the BP employee young relative programme, BP is proud to nominate Matilda to be an Olympic torchbearer.
