Mary Wixey

Miss Mary Wixey is a marvellous athlete and at the age of 90 years is still running.She was my games mistress at Charlton Kings Secondary School in the late 50's and early 60's and was still games mistress when the school changed its name to Balacarras. She instilled in me and others such enthusiasm for sport. She still runs and has won may awards for Cheltenham and indeed her county ,area regions in athletics at various meetings over the years, in all age groups. She does not have an email adress so have put mine in in for hers and the only problem with her health is that she is deaf but this does not detract her from running. She is a credit to athletics and for her to carry the Olmpic torch would be a wonderfull icing on the cake for her career and something she would be very humble about but also think it a great honour not just for her but also Cheltenham. What a inspiration to us all
