Maureen's nomination story

Maureen has been working with the West Yorkshire Crime Prevention unit in Wetherby for over 26 years, volunteering in the Neighbourhood Watch Scheme and Chair of the Crime Prevention Panel. Recently winning the Chief Constable Commendation (a top police award) for all her efforts and amazing level of commitment and in May recieved StrayFM (Harrogate) Radio Station 2011 Volunteer of year award Maureen is often seen in the streets of Wetherby giving out crime prevention tools, giving advice on crime prevention or raising money through her many book events. You can also find Maureen down at the local police station undertaking administration and talking to victims of anti social behaviour. The amount of time Maureen volunteers is incredible and she is really making a difference in peoples' everyday lives (particularly the elderly). I'm very proud to call her my Aunt and Godmother.
