I think my father, Martin Deacy, should get to carry the olympic torch because he is the rock of our community, also because of his efforts to involve everybody in our communtity in social and sporting events. After attending the Olympics in Athens in 2004 and also his passion for different sports I think it is time he was rewarded, I can't think of a better way! I believe that my father, a Middlesbrough boy through and through, would be a massive inspiration to people living in town with little hope left, after the recession especially. He decided to do a university course at Teesside University in Public health and well being, which he just graduated from after spending 35 year doing public service at the Post Office where he personally knew the local clientele and was very hand on. I think the University course has helped him reach his potential which I don't thin he didn't relise he had in him when he was younger. Currently he is helping with a charity to aid local youths who can't respond to traditional education but then leading them onto a different, more hands on way of life Also being involved with the Sky TV cycling campaign, Sky Ride, which gets him into the community and getting them active taking them on bike rides around the local area, He loves meeting new people and making an impact on their lives. This is why I think my Dad is the perfect candidate to carry the Olympic flame!
