As a non-golfer living in East London, Marlan sits on our Golf Roots youth panel and has helped develop the new concept of Golf Roots street golf. Marlan works as a PE teaching assistant for Tower Hamlets SSP coaching a variety of sports but he has developed a real interest in the values and potential of golf to reach young people in inner city areas. He delivers street golf to his peers on his estate in Hackney and is showing how golf can be introduced to disaffected young people away from golf facilities. Marlan has now taken up golf and has been given the opportunity to help volunteer at major golf events. He has also helped at numerous Tri-Golf festivals over the past 3 years, inspiring more young people from inner cities into sport. He has become more confident and has shown true leadership qualities in leading on the development of street golf.
