Mark has attained almost every accolade possible in the few years he has been swimming competitively. From countless Scottish age group records, Scottish and British junior records and a host of medals from British age group championships. Recently selected to represent GB at the 2011 European Olympic Youth Games, Mark's ultimate goal is to represent Team GB at the Olympics and few would doubt that he will achieve that aim. But it is Mark's membership of Carnegie Swimming Club and the advice and support that he gives to younger members that sets him apart. Carnegie is a small club but Mark's influence has rubbed off on all his team-mates, the club always holds its own against the bigger city clubs despite being numerically disadvantaged. Many of the younger swimmers Mark has helped nurture and inspire are now also breaking records. Quite simply, Mark is a fantastic role model, an asset to his club and the local sporting community. Mark has given Fife someone to be very proud of and would deem it a great honour if he were to be selected as an Olympic torchbearer.
